Modification of working holding furnaces
At present time RPC Magnetic hydrodynamics Ltd. succesfully implements turnkey projects including designing, fabrication and supply of MHD-stirrers in accordance with Customer's specific requirements. These stirrers are able to be installed on existing holding furnaces as well.
For the first time, in the end of 2011 we implemented complicated project of furnaces modification at Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter — 100 ton capacity tilting electric holding furnaces hearths steelworks reconstruction and reinforcement with additional installation of non-magnetic plate and TYPE 500-2 MHD stirrers installation underneath them in order to improve alloy preparation technology.
In the end of 2012 we successfully implemented the project of 75 ton capacity tilting holding furnaces hearths reconstruction and reinforcement with additional installation of non-magnetic plate and TYPE 400-3 MHD stirrers installation underneath them at Bratsk Aluminium Smelter.
In 2014 we implemented the project of 60 ton capacity tilting holding furnaces hearths reconstruction and reinforcement with additional installation of non-magnetic plate andMHD stirrers installation underneath them at Khakassian Aluminium Smelter.
In 2012 stationary holding furnaces were modified at Khazahstan Electrolysis Plant OJSC as follows:
- existing silicon carbide heating element were replaced on tubular heating elements of RPC Magnetic hydrodynamics Ltd. production;
- refractory lining was completely changed for monolithic, moreover furnace bath volume increase due to the reduction of lining thickness;
- new design inlet well installation, which helped to decrease a swirling, aluminium splashes and oxidation during its pouring into a furnace from crucibles;
- steelworks modification (including its reinforcement).
In 2018 we supplied two MHD stirrers with non-sinusoidal power supplies to the Boguchansky Aluminum Plant.
In 2018, the power supply for two off 80-ton and off 30-ton mixers was replaced at the Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant.
